White Appam


  1. Raw rice                                               - 2 cups
  2. Black gram dhal                                 - ½ cup
  3. Salt                                                         - to taste
  4. Coconut                                               - 1 for coconut milk
  5. Baking soda                                        - a pinch
  6. Oil                                                           - as required


  1. Soak together rice and dhal at least for 3 hours.
  2. Grind well add salt, coconut milk, baking soda, mix it well.
  3. Heat oil in kadai, pour the batter, (One spoon full).  Allow to cook don’t leave to change the colour.  Before it change furn the other side.  Allow to cook in slow fire till cooked in white colour.
  4. Remove from fire and serve and serve with tomato chutney.
